Apple introduces iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max with new design, A19 Pro chip, and pro-level cameras

Apple has announced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, its latest flagship smartphones featuring a redesigned aluminum unibody, the new A19 Pro chip, and expanded camera capabilities.

Pre-orders begin on September 12, with availability on September 19.

Redesigned aluminum body with larger battery

The iPhone 17 Pro series debuts a brushed aerospace-grade aluminum chassis with a raised plateau on the back, creating space for a larger battery.

Apple has also integrated an internal vapor chamber, moving heat away from the A19 Pro processor to sustain higher performance while improving thermal management.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max

Both models support fast charging, reaching 50% in 20 minutes with Apple’s new 40W USB-C adapter.

Ceramic Shield 2 protection and brighter display

Both models come in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR displays with up to 3000 nits peak brightness, 120Hz ProMotion, and Always-On functionality. A new Ceramic Shield 2 protects both the front and back, offering three times better scratch resistance and four times greater crack resistance compared to earlier models.

A19 Pro chip for performance and AI

Powered by the A19 Pro, Apple’s most powerful iPhone processor, the new devices promise up to 40% better sustained performance than the previous generation. The chip includes a 6-core CPU, a new 6-core GPU with ray tracing support, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Apple also introduced the N1 wireless chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for more reliable connectivity.

Expanded camera system with 8x optical zoom

The iPhone 17 Pro lineup features three 48MP Fusion cameras (Main, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto), offering the equivalent of eight lenses. The new Telephoto sensor supports 8x optical zoom at 200mm, the longest ever on iPhone.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max

A new 18MP Center Stage front camera delivers wider field-of-view selfies, AI-powered group framing, and stabilized 4K HDR video.

New professional video features

For content creators, the iPhone 17 Pro adds support for ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock, allowing synchronization across multiple cameras. These upgrades integrate with Final Cut Camera and Blackmagic Camera for professional workflows.

iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence

The phones ship with iOS 26, which introduces Apple Intelligence features including Live Translation, advanced screenshot search, and on-device foundation models for apps.

Other updates include a redesigned interface with “Liquid Glass,” new tools for call and message screening, and expanded CarPlay and Apple Music features.

Pricing and storage

  • iPhone 17 Pro: from $1,099 (256GB base storage)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: from $1,199, available up to 2TB for the first time

Both models launch in cosmic orange, deep blue, and silver.

Apple continues its Apple 2030 initiative, using 30% recycled materials, 100% recycled cobalt in the battery, and fiber-based recyclable packaging.
