Dell debuts disaggregated infrastructure for modern data centers

Dell Technologies announced software-driven disaggregated infrastructure innovations at Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas on May 20, 2025, to enable customers to design modern data centers that manage shared compute, networking, and storage resource pools through automation, security, and partner integrations amid evolving IT demands.

Organizations operate under pressure to handle modern and traditional workloads across on-premises data centers, cloud environments, and edge locations. IT requirements shift constantly, requiring data centers to adapt to diverse needs. Dell’s disaggregated infrastructure addresses these challenges by centralizing the management of compute, networking, and storage pools. This setup incorporates software automation for operations, built-in security measures, and compatibility with partner technologies to support flexible deployments.

Dell introduced advancements in storage and cyber-resiliency to provide the performance and protection required for contemporary data centers. The Dell PowerProtect Data Domain All-Flash appliances enhance cyber resilience through specific performance gains. These appliances achieve up to four times faster data restores compared to previous systems. Replication performance doubles, accelerating data movement between sites. Efficiency improvements include occupying 40 percent less rack space, which optimizes data center footprints. Power consumption drops by up to 80 percent relative to HDD-based systems, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

Dell PowerScale software received updates that strengthen object-storage support and cyber resilience. The PowerScale Cybersecurity Suite delivers tools to protect data, ensure access, and enable recovery for critical assets. Application performance increases via Amazon EC2 cloud burst capabilities, allowing seamless scaling to cloud resources during peak demands. Backup options extend to Dell ObjectScale, Amazon S3, or Wasabi, providing cost-effective long-term storage alternatives that lower expenses while maintaining data availability.

PowerStore Advanced Ransomware Detection represents a new capability that uses advanced AI analytics to validate data integrity. This feature minimizes downtime during ransomware incidents by detecting anomalies and confirming file legitimacy. The announcement aligns with PowerStore reaching its fifth anniversary. Dell reports over 17,000 global customers currently using PowerStore systems, reflecting widespread adoption across enterprises.

Dell software now automates the deployment and management of disaggregated private cloud and edge solutions. These solutions leverage Dell’s infrastructure alongside partner technologies. Dell Private Cloud introduces a method for organizations to deploy, manage, and scale private clouds using cloud software from vendors such as Broadcom, Nutanix, and Red Hat on Dell’s disaggregated infrastructure. Investment protection comes from reusable hardware components. Operations simplify through full lifecycle management, covering provisioning to decommissioning. A catalog of validated blueprints supports customer preferences for configurations.

Automation in Dell Private Cloud reduces provisioning steps by 90 percent compared to manual methods. A complete cluster deploys in two and a half hours with zero manual intervention. Delivery occurs via the Dell Automation Platform, which streamlines disaggregated solution operations. This platform includes secure, zero-touch onboarding and centralized management interfaces. Keith Bradley, vice president of IT and Security at Nature Fresh Farms, stated, “Dell Private Cloud has proven to be the right fit to help us meet our business priorities. The flexibility to transition between cloud ecosystems and the ability to repurpose hardware is a game-changer for us by providing investment protection and enabling us to respond to evolving business needs quickly.”

New features in Dell NativeEdge position it as an advanced and cost-effective platform for virtualized workloads at edge sites and remote branch offices. Policy-based load balancing distributes traffic dynamically to optimize performance. VM snapshots capture system states for quick recovery. Backup and migration functions secure and relocate virtual machines efficiently. Support extends to non-Dell hardware and legacy infrastructure, enabling consistent management across heterogeneous environments.

Arthur Lewis, president of the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, said, “At Dell Technologies, we’re defining the future architecture of the intelligent enterprise. Our disaggregated infrastructure approach helps customers build secure, efficient modern data centers that turn data into intelligence and complexity into clarity.”
